Corten steel loudspeaker boxes

For its company anniversary, a well-known manufacturer of audio technology wanted an unusual display object for its customers to show that special and extravagant surfaces for loudspeaker boxes are also possible. The choice fell on a Corten steel surface with real copper inlays symbolizing the anniversary year.

For this, we pretreated the cross-laminated plywood material accordingly, sealed it and applied an adhesive primer. The surface was then coated and finished with liquid metal in Corten steel (rust look). The graphic representation of the 42 was neatly masked and applied with liquid metal in copper (light).

The surface looks deceptively real, but has the advantage that it does not stain or rub off. As a finish, we coated the speaker cabinets with a special sealer to more clearly simulate the somewhat dull look of a rust finish.

Another great project. The customer was thrilled, so were we ;-)
